Obama urges China to back Iran nuclear sanctions
Barack Obama and urged Beijing to “increased pressure” on Iran over its nuclear program after the success of the U.S. administration to persuade China to agree to hold talks on imposing new sanctions against Tehran.
Obama told CBS News that Iran diplomatically isolated and increasingly to the international unity necessary to ensure that it is not developing nuclear weapons.
“The idea is to keep the conversion of pressure,” said Obama. “We’re going to ratchet up the pressure and discuss how to respond, but we’re going to do this with a united international community.”
Aired the interview hours after the president’s call the phone for hours of air force one with Hu Jintao before the Chinese president’s visit to the United States for a summit of non-proliferation of nuclear weapons later this month.
