England have committed to participate in the Commonwealth Games but the first batch of athletes who land in Delhi on Friday to put up in hotels instead of the games village as it would be “several days” before their living quarters ready.
England men’s team and hockey team bowling in the park are among a group of 22 people from the athletes, who flew from Heathrow airport last night.
But England’s Chef de mission said Craig Hunter said it would be some days before moving in to the village of games, which he called “dirty and unfit for habitation” by visiting international delegations.
We will hold our athletes in local hotels, “the newspaper quoted Hunter as saying to the Daily Telegraph.
